Government fails to convict Dr. Knox on a single count.

On October 31, the verdict came in on Dr. Cecil Knox, a pain specialist accused of illegally prescribing medications, including OxyContin, that allegedly contributed to the deaths of seven patients, along with racketeering, conspiracy, and fraud. After a 7-week trial and more than a week of deliberation, the jury acquitted Dr. Knox on many counts and were unable to reach a verdict on the others. Judge Samuel Wilson declared a mistrial. U.S. Attorney John Brownlee said his office will re-try Dr. Knox and others on the remaining counts.
