News of the Day ... in Perspective5/9/2005Women with abortion history at greater risk of preterm births According to a study published in the April issue of the British Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, women with a history of induced abortion have a higher risk of delivering prematurely in subsequent pregnancies than women who never had an abortion. The risk was 50% higher for a very preterm birth (before 33 weeks) and 70% higher for an extremely preterm birth (before 28 weeks). (kaisernetwork.org, Apr 29, 2005 ).
