I refuse to vote for or give money to anyone who voted for this piece of boondoggle (Webster's definition, useless crap). All have run to the same government which, through Fanny Mae and Freddy Mac, created the problem in the first place. Apparently they could think of no other solution.
As we have seen today (October 7th) it did not even work and will only result in selective rescue of some of those who caused the problem while everyone else shares in the misery and gets no relief. I suspect economic hard times will provide an excuse to expand the power of the federal government, but then again everything seems to provide an excuse to expand the power of the federal government. The Libertarian Party is far from perfect but at least they are not noxious and malicious.

Don't hate the Democrats.................the Republicans have been right up there too............

Glad to see you are doing your part at the grassroots level. Maybe you should pray about taking a sabbatical from medicine and running for some political office at some point in time. mom

Once again, we have opportunity to prove wrong, as one variation of the the old addage goes: "let's vote out all the bums, exept ours." Until we, the people, are enough fed up with this mess, and get more active at the grassroots level, and pressure our elected officials and our local press(with mail, email, phone calls, editorials, local mailings, competition, AND voting), then nothing is going to change. Politics is like entropy, thing moving into more "chaos" (spending = squandering, hidden features of bills = greater "state control" = loss of liberties).
Thank you AAPS for such informative journalism, the substance for effective mobilization of concerned citizens.

Those congressmen who voted against the massive bailout bill likely knew that there were enough votes to pass it, so they could "safely" deny their support, thus appearing compliant with their constituents wishes. It's curious that this whole thing would happen 5 weeks from the election. It appears that the public does have a short memory, but don't you think it should last 5 weeks, anyway? Were it left to me, I'd boot out all of the incumbents (excepting Ron Paul) and start with a fresh slate of congressmen, thus eliminating the seniority heirarchy and all of the pre-existing entanglements.

One wonders how much longer this great country can survive, spending trillions it doesn't have, passing legislation the people do not want. Is this the brand of democracy we are trying to export to other nations? Is that little-known document, the U.S. Constitution worth preserving if it is not going to be followed?
