Dear Drs. Buitrago and Geller: The SS Hospital Ship HOPE, is celebrating the 50th Aniversary of the Foundation of Dr. William B. Walsh project of Hope Opportunities for People Everywhere. In its trips throughout the world, this magnificent exponent of American Medicine, considered by many as the one true, honest aid from the people of one country (USA) to the people of countries in need, of training and support in the many branches of Medicine, in its character as a Teaching Hospital. While the staffing of this beloved INSTITUTION consisted of many of the real prominent physicians of all branches of the medical professions in the US, they could not have gotten anywhere without the help of translators and interpreters, because the eminence of their knowledge was monolingual.
God bless the SS HOPE for their "multiculturalism" and for their success in helping people around the world.

Dear Dr. Buitrago:

MultiCultural Societies are hostile societies. The fact that you choose to publish your Journal in Spanish displays hostility to the larger culture.

It's not like you have to publish in Spanish because that is your audience. Doctors are educated. They should be in the forefront of assimilating their culture. Publishing in Spanish shows they're not. Sorry if you find this offensive, most people feel this way, whether you believe it or not.

Sorry if you feel it's politically incorrect.

I respect and agree with the comments made regarding Medicina y Cultura, of which I am the editor. As an explanation to the comments, this magazine is been mainly published according to one of the goals of the College, which is to integrate physicians from Latin American into this organization. Also, science does not have an specific language. Hence a magazine in Spanish.
Regarding Dr. Geller's comment about multiculturalism: what about the Nobel prize?
I shall be more than happy to get more input from these and other gentlemen as a way to know what we are doing wrong. Anyway, I do appreciate their comments, for respect for other people's way of thinking, something that makes this God blessed country great.

What has an individuals ancestry have to do with his knowledge and skills, his integrity and honesty, in short his character?

Every individual is born tabula rasa and creates the content of his own mind and his virtues.

Individuals have the right to make their own associations but to hold the view that there is value in the realm of medical science by associating with others on the basis of national origin or allegiance is a mistake at best and to be dismissed as wrong when understood. This is collectivism of a specific kind and therfore anti-human life.

Another attempt to divide America. We are all Americans-there is no room for hyphenated-americans. Refer to T. Roosevelt' comments on the subject of immigration.
