Stuart Varney will interview Kathryn Serkes, AAPS Director of Policy and Public Affairs on his Fox Business News show (FBN) regarding the impact of health care reform proposals on doctors in private medicine.
After the show, be sure to post your comments below.
Those of you who have every done an interview — particularly live — know how quickly the time speeds by.
I was just about to make the point that AAPS doctors are eliminating contracts and charging less when time ran out. It was originally scheduled for only 3 minutes, but he held me over extra time and
asked me to come back.
I thought it was of note that he read an email from a doctor bashing the AMA just before he introduced me. (I promise I did NOT plant the email or send it myself!!!)
Just keep telling your patients and colleagues that things are NOT a done deal – — we have support in our fight!
Kathryn
If dentists can be paid on a fee for service basis and patients get reimbursed from their insurers, why can’t this work for physician too? We worked very hard for the priviledge of taking care of people who are ill, and we need to be paid for the time it takes to do the job correctly. Lawsuits can sometimes arise from patient care efforts that have been rushed because of time constraints reflecting a focus on the bottom line instead of the patient. We as healthcare providers need to take our time and be properly compensated for our time. If we band together we are stronger and can have this point addressed and then can do a better job for our patients.
Cost estimates of medical care vs. GDP are probably grossly over-estimated. It’s just a way to demonize and control physicians.
We are the only group qualified to direct every aspect of health care delivery, including health care in hospitals.
We need to get out of denial and stand up for personal responsiblity in patients by having them decide what they want to spend their money on, not insurance companies or the government.
We must take charge of health care delivery for the sake of our patients and refuse to cede this responsibility to others.
Great exposure!….But ….TOO MUCH TO SAY ….SO LITTLE TIME!!!
Go back AGAIN…AND ….CHARGE !!!!!!!!!!
