The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act mentions “prevention” 233 times and “wellness” 91 times. Speakers will discuss the implications of the various prevention and wellness provisions in the PPACA.

Dr. Eck and Ms. Brase will discuss the law’s impact on the patient-doctor relationship, individual privacy, patient care, the employer-employee relationship, and the future of medicine as PPACA attempts to shift responsibility for prevention and wellness from individuals to practitioners and employers.

The Administration declared June 2011 to be the first-ever Prevention and Wellness Month. This briefing will provide attendees with information on the broad prevention and wellness provisions enacted in PPACA and engage them to consider who should be held responsible for preventing illness and keeping patients well.
